The Division of Environmental Protection, within the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, is organized to insure that development is permitted and regulated by law, experience and community. Development may also be prohibited if deemed necessary by adverse environmental impacts and other controlling factors which exercise sound judgment. Our protection of the environment rests on the idea that there is both an immediate and long term impact on how we develop as a community including human health and safety.
